Dream Automotive have partnered with RaceCal to offer a variety of engine calibration (ECU mapping) services to our customers. We choose RaceCal for their 25+ years experience as well as their world renowned reputation for specialising in Honda vehicles.
Whether you have a road based car and wanted to extract a little more power, a 500bhp+ FK build, a specialist race vehicle or anything in between we can cater for your requirements using our in-house 4WD Dyno Dynamics rolling road.
We support a variety of ECU's, most notably Hondata, Syvecs, AEM, Haltech, Link ECU as well as some others. General engine mapping, closed loop gearbox control for sequential transmissions, knock control, traction control, launch control and anti-Lag / pops and bangs are all catered for.
Popular Solutions...
Depending on which vehicle you have, there may be multiple options to choose from, some factors to consider are the goals of the build, as well as the budget you are working too. Below are the popular options for the Honda Civic FK2/FK8.
Hondata
The Hondata FlashPro is by far the most popular option when tuning the FK2, FK8 or FL5 and for good reason! It offers full user tuning and datalogging in an affordable, simple yet very capable package. It includes a Windows based software called FlashProManager. The FlashPro connects from your laptop's USB port to your vehicles diagnostic port allowing us to tune a variety of calibrations along with real time datalogging capabilities.
Syvecs
If you're planning to really push your Type R to the next level, Syvecs is for you. Based on the popular Syvecs S7 Standalone ECU, this Plug N' Play solution inherits all advanced features of S7 such as flat foot shifting, rolling anti-lag, launch control and much more. Other valuable features include the extensive on-board engine monitoring and safety systems which, when set-up correctly, will help prevent catastrophic engine failure.
COBB Tuning
The COBB Accessport is currently in-development and will release soon, revolutionising the K20C1 tuning industry...
What can I expect from a mapping session?
Dream Automotive and RaceCal pride ourselves on providing an honest and reliable vehicle calibration. Our services are designed to optimise your vehicle's performance while maintaining its reliability and drivability.
Before undergoing calibration, your vehicle undergoes a meticulous inspection by our skilled technicians. Once cleared, it is securely fastened to our dyno to ensure a safe and controlled tuning environment. It's essential to understand that the dynamometer is a tool for the engine calibration engineer, not a way to measure power figures for bragging.
Once the car is on the dyno and the calibration has begun, the engines fuelling and ignition timing will be optimised specific to your vehicles setup. VTC/VTEC will be optimised for throttle response and torque. Any additional features such as launch control, anti-lag and more can be setup on the dyno in a safe and controlled environment, provided your vehicles specification permits.
Throughout the calibration process, Dream Automotive and RaceCal will confer with yourself to provide you with a premium service and tune tailored to you. Upon completion of your vehicles calibration you will be supplied with a power and torque graph, AFR plot and, if applicable, a boost plot.
Preparing For Calibration...
Dyno calibration creates a comparable level of engine load to a track day! Because of this it is very important to prepare your vehicle and carry out checks beforehand. For this reason it is incredibly important to prepare your vehicle. Your preparation process should involve checking all fluids are topped up, there are no looks from the engine or it's ancillaries, that spark plugs are in good condition and that your vehicles clutch will not being to slip when faced with increased levels of torque. If you require advise on how to properly prepare, please get in contact!
Fuel Type/Level
To ensure a proper calibration we need your vehicle to arrive with a full tank of the fuel you typically use - as a rule of thumb we recommend that tuned vehicles use either Shell V-Power or Tesco Momentum. If neither of these fuels are easily accessible close to home, fill up with your usual fuel type.
Calibration can consume anywhere between 20-70 litres of fuel, depending on the car, how long the dyno session will last depending and the complexity of the setup.
Dream Automotive recommends '99 RON' fuel for your pump fuel map, favourably Shell V-Power or Tesco Momentum. If these fuels are not available close to home, please make us aware of your fuel type in advance. If you are running an Ethanol blend or a specific race fuel, please feel free to contact us to discuss suitable required quantities.
Known Underlying Problems
If your engine is using excess oil, smoking, pushing water out on load, low on compression or generally in poor health carrying out a dyno power run or calibration session is not advised.
Dream Automotive reserve the right to decline a power run or calibration session if we believe the engine is not suitably healthy.
If you are unsure we can arrange a health check, including compression/leakdown test prior to your calibration.
Fluid Leaks
Ensure your engine has no fluid leaks, not only can this be dangerous to your engine on the dyno, a large leak can also damage critical dyno equipment. Dream Automotive reserve the right to invoice customers for any cleaning or damage to calibration equipment caused by a fluid leak.
