PBS Rear Brake Pads - FK2 Type R
PBS (Performance Braking Solutions) brake pads are made by racing drivers for racing drivers, working at high temperatures with excellent pedal feel, consistent braking with low dust, and great rotor life. These are by far the best bang for buck pads on the market giving great consistency, longevity, and bite at both hot and cold temperatures.

The ProRace compound is a ceramic graphite material that has great initial bite, excellent control, and feel with a powerful stopping power of 0.36 to 0.58mu this compound is used in many race series with great results including race wins and overall championships it is also the compound of choice for many track day users. (Working temp 0-800c)
The ProTrack compound is also ceramic metallic material that has milder initial bite than the ProRace compound with excellent control and feels with powerful stopping power of 0.40 to 0.48mu this compound is designed for light occasional track use or wet conditions and for race series that have used low grip tyre with less noise and dust (Working temp 0-700c)

VTC Pulleys, Timing Chain and FK8 Clutch Upgrade - Major FK2 Work!
This FK2 joined us this week to have some fairly major works carried out - the car had started to rattle upon cold start, an early symptom of the common VTC pulley failure. Rather than letting the car get much worse, the owner wisely got in contact and organised for us to replace both VTC Pulleys and the timing chain. While the car was in with us, we also fitted the OEM single mass clutch conversion kit from Exedy - this kit replaces the FK2's dual mass clutch with the single mass found in the FK8 Type R. The benefits of fitting this clutch include improved acceleration and a dramatic reduction in rev-hang.
If you think you may be experiencing early symptoms of VTC Pulley failure and would like to have your car inspected or repaired - get in contact!

Another FK2 Head Gasket - FK2 Head Gasket Failure
An issue that both ourselves and FK2 owners have noticed becoming more common is head gasket failure, especially on vehicles producing more power than standard. The owner of this vehicle has opted to go for a higher end replacement head gasket from C-S Pro, rather than a genuine Honda gasket.
