The carbon pod shrouds the reverse mounted filter and smoothly shapes the airflow down to the OEM turbo inlets. This changes the flow path from the OEM airbox where airflow enters the base of the airbox and has to contend with the 90 degree corners, where stagnation areas will arise. Our system is a lot more direct with airflow entering the front of the filter housing and and moving into the MAF tube section without any abrupt direction changes. The OEM hose has a large convoluted section across its curved portion. This results in turbulence as the airflow needs to negotiate the curve while simultaneously encountering the ridges. Our design removes the ridges across the curve and places a smaller flexible section in line with the filter housing where the path is straight. This allows adequate flexibility for engine movement without impeding airflow.
